The Business of Fashion recently took an inside look at the leading fashion college Bunka Fashion School to understand the methods that have produced some of the great designers like Kenzo Takada, Yohji Yamamoto and Junya Watanabe and the holistic approach to clothing and design that the school has.
The school believes it is more important for students to know Japanese than English and most of the graduates end up working in the Japanese industry, promoting Japanese fashion rather than opting for a big house overseas which as we have seen recently with the number of departures is not always what it is cracked up to be.
